The BTEC HND in Construction and the Built Environment course is intended as a vocational qualification within the construction industry. It is also ideal for those who are already working in, or training for a technician role in the construction industry and are looking to enhance their qualifications to progress in their career. The aim of this course is to develop students with a technical understanding of the Construction and the Built environment industry including the application of proven techniques and theories for the solution of real life problems.

Modules may include: Year 1 – Level 5 Construction Technology Construction Practice & Management Legal and Statutory Responsibilities in Construction Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification) Site Supervision and Operations Contracts and Management Personal Professional Development Maintenance and Operations Year 2 – Level 5 Individual Project (Pearson-set) Science and Materials Building Information Modelling Group Project (Pearson-set) Project Management Management for Complex Buildings Project Construction Technology for Complex Building Projects Alternative Methods of Construction

The units are integrated into a programme of continuous assessment through assignments and timed tests. There are several components to the assessment, both theoretical and practical.
