Course Summary

This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the contemporary horticultural industries. You will develop the skills to become a leader of change in a sustainable urban and production environment. The changing global agriculture sector is meeting the challenges of production by means of digital, mechanical and biochemical technological innovations allowing producers to make informed decisions using sensors, communications and data analytics. As the industry evolves it is important that you have a knowledge of advanced machinery, monitoring technologies and genetics to reflect the automation of tasks now taking place in the land based industries. The impact of these technologies also requires an understanding of the economic and business aspects enabling produce to get from farm to table. You will study at newly built facilities set in extensive grounds at Pershore College and with access to industry standard technologies, you will be able to enter a wide range of sectors forming part of the global food production, supply chain and urban horticulture. The course has strong links to the local horticultural industries and there will be an opportunity to study in an environment that includes commercial production activities and ongoing cutting-edge applied horticultural research. The Awarding Body for this course is Warwickshire College.
